Draft Kings, known for its daily fantasy sports, is also becoming a dominant player in the US online casino market. The company has online casinos in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In its first month in West Virginia, Draft Kings Casino collected 75% of the state’s total share of $50 million online. According to Draft Kings IR, their online casino app now offers over 360 different games.
Sugar House Rivers
Sugar House-Rivers is second on the list with a 16 percent share of the U.S. online casino’s GGR market share. Sugarhouse-Rivers Casino is owned by Rush Street Interactive. The company has online casinos in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Sugar House Casino was one of the first casinos to apply for an online license with PA. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved the license in 2018 to allow Sugar House to offer online slots, table games and poker to Pennsylvania residents and visitors.
Bet fair-Fan Duel
Bet fair-Fan duel is third on the list with 15% of the US casino’s GGR market share. In 2018, Paddy Power Bet fair and Fan Duel merged their US companies. Together they run online casinos in Pennsylvania (Fan Duel’s business) and New Jersey (Bet fair’s business). Both companies are owned by the parent company Flutter Entertainment. Flutter is an online game powerhouse with more than 13 million customers worldwide. Other notable brands under the Flatter umbrella include Full Tilt Poker, Poker Stars, Sky Bet.
ROAR ranks fourth on the list with 13% of the US online casino GGR market share. ROAR Digital is a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and GVC Holdings and consists of the brands Bet MGM, Borgata, Party Casino and Party Poker. According to the CEO of ROAR Digital, Bet MGM earns more than $130 million in net revenue this year, mainly from I Gaming (an online casino) in New Jersey, given the effects of COVID-19 (i.e. lack of live sports). ROAR Digital has live online casinos in New Jersey and West Virginia under the Bet MGM brand and plans to enter the Pennsylvania market this year.
Tilman Fertista’s Golden Nugget online casino is in fifth place. Currently, Golden Nugget operates its online casino exclusively in New Jersey, where it is the market leader. The company experienced record user activity in the third quarter and could exceed $100 million at GGR in New Jersey in 2020. The company recently received approval from the New Jersey Casino Control Commission to complete the merger with SPAC Land Holdings II.
Poker Stars is in sixth place with 5% of the US online casino’s GGR market share. Like Bet Fair-Fan Duel in second place, Poker Stars is under the flutter entertainment umbrella. The popular European poker site was launched in New Jersey in 2016. Poker Stars gives users access to online poker, slots and casino games in New Jersey.
